A start against the Dodgers can not be what it needs to recover.
Cain, winless in his career against Los Angeles, hopes to help prevent loss by beating Giants of his room a row when he takes the mound Tuesday night against larger rivals in San Francisco.
Entering Thursday's game in Houston, 2.16 ERA Cain was the fourth best in the majors, thanks to a seven starts since 05 17-06 19, during which seven earned runs allowed. The right-hander expected to recover in AT & T Park, where he posted an ERA of 0.75 in winning their last three, but at least one of favorite opponents waiting for you.
Cain is 0-7 with a 4.13 ERA in 13 starts against Los Angeles. It is the only league team that is not San Francisco, the only club he has played for, and Philadelphia, which has faced four times, has not expired.

San Francisco had plenty of chances in the 4-2 Monday's loss to the Dodgers, but hit into five double plays. The Giants, who have lost five of six, have been stranded in an NL-worst 81 double plays.
"We find ways to get into them," manager Bruce Bochy said. "We have kids moving and we need the field. The injured, to stop demonstrations. "
The Dodgers (41-35) took up an important victory in his first game of the season at AT & T Park moving a half-game ahead of San Francisco and within four of the NL West-leading San Diego.
Casey Blake hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning for Los Angeles, who won without center fielder Matt Kemp in the lineup and without the services of closer Jonathan Broxton, who must have another day off after throwing 48 pitches on Sunday.
Kemp was out for a second day, and manager Joe Torre said he will play which is the most productive. Kemp is batting .161 with one homer in his last 18 games.
"We're trying to get into a bit of a race," said Torre. "We trying to build something at this time. "
The Dodgers try to win back to back games for the second time since June 11 rookie John Ely (3-5, 3.86) which has also been hurt by the slump support.
Ely has received two or fewer runs of support in five of his last six starts without a victory to leave. At 2-1 on Wednesday the loss of the Angels right-hander allowed two runs and three hits in seven innings. It was the seventh time in 10 starts gave up two runs or less.
This will be his first appearance against the Giants.
AT & T Park
AT & T Park, the first privately financed major league stadium to be built in 38 years, is a classic urban stadium with a touch of yesteryear who was inspired by the Wrigley Field and Fenway Park.
