2009 March Madness – North Carolina wins the national Titles 5th Michigan State as Upstart Falters

North Coach Roy Williams' Carolina Tar Heels began their season ranked # 1 and finished the season # 1 with their 5th National Championship Carolina North easily defeated # 2-seeded Michigan State 89-72 in the only game that spot-on match to determine the best team in the nation for the 2008-2009 season.
A potential of 4 teams in the NBA draft in North Carolina Ty Lawson, Tyler Hansbrough, Wayne Ellington and Danny Green remained in one year instead of entering the draft last year. There was some unfinished business as the Tar Heels lost 84-66 to Kansas in one of last year's Semi-Final games. Kansas advance to beat Memphis 75-68 in the National Championship.
Michigan State played the hardest schedule to reach the final. The Spartans Beat # 3-seeded Kansas 67-62, # 1-head serial Louisville 64-52 and No. 1-seeded Connecticut 82-73. Despite its upstart run to a potential national title, the Spartans fell flat against North Carolina.
In the early going, Michigan State defense could not stop-no matter assault of North Carolina. The Tar Heels set a record-time of a game the title to jump to a 21 point lead (55-34) and then set another record by scoring 55 points in the first half. The Spartans had exactly 8 shooting from the field and 10 turnovers with 5:55 left in the first half.
Michigan State could not get into the paint, could not get the ball to his 6-foot-10 center Goran Suton in the paint, and could barely get the ball at midfield without being stolen or pull off the court. Unfortunately for the Spartans, things are not appreciably better in the second half.
North Carolina defeated all the teams that played in the single-elimination tournament by double digits. They looked so good as which apparently were, and looked even better in the title game.
Many fans, players and coaches would think that Connecticut, Louisville, Pittsburgh or Memphis would have been a more worthy rival Michigan State. What we really need to do is shut up and acknowledge that they had their chance and screwed up. And so, This season ends with some very interest rankings in the final polls.
There is a huge gap between the end of the season, the final ranking for the AP Top 25 Poll and the coaches poll. In the North Carolina Coaches Poll ends # 1 with all 31 first-place votes.
In the Top 25 AP Poll Louisville get the # 1 spot by winning 45 of 71 votes from the media (sportswriters and sportscasters). North Carolina had only 11 votes First, Memphis also got 11, Pittsburgh 3 and Connecticut, 1.
Good grief, talk about home runs. I guarantee that one type of media Carolina North has not given his first-place vote to Memphis, Pittsburgh, Connecticut and Louisville. So much for any semblance of objectivity.
Michigan State eliminated # 1-seeded Louisville and No. 1-seeded Connecticut as the Spartans marched to the national championship game. The types of media in the State of Michigan saw as # 8 in its final poll. Clearly, these types of media after drinking too much watching the game and are sore losers when backing their teams library.

Do you think the coaches may have been paying attention a little more actual results of the 2009 March Madness tournament when the teams concerned had to prove their classification against top competition?
Jeff Sagarin Head-to-head quantitative method was an entirely different set of skills with two big blunders identified Sagarin # 14 Washington and Washington State and # 83 Washington State and Washington. Maybe Sagarin (or one of its employees) had a pink lemonade too when compiling the final statistics.
These two errors is still displayed in the USA Today website from Thursday (4-9-09) at 6:40 pm PST, two days after his release.
